  • All knitting classes (including socks) are at the Advanced Beginner level. In other words,  you should know how to do the long-tail cast-on, how to knit and purl with good tension, how to bind off, and how to do basic decreases.
  • If you are not at this level, Sirkku teaches beginning knitting on Wednesdays for $10 per day.  You are free to come and stay as long as you wish.  Lessons by appointment are also available. See our Ongoing Lessons page for more details or give us a call!

Crochet Blanket Motifs

Price: $30.00

Learn a few types of crochet blanket motifs to build confidence in your crochet skills and to ready yourself for your first afghan.  

Materials: 5.0mm/USH crochet hook, 100g of worsted weight yarn, plus colorful coordinating worsted weight scraps.

Prerequisites: Student must be comfortable with ch, sl, sc, dc.

Intro to Knitting: Part 2

Price: $40.00

Learn how to cast on, knit, purl, bind off, and read a basic knitting pattern.  Simple dishcloth patterns will be provided to practice the stitches covered in the course.  This course is split into two sessions.  The first session will cover casting on, knit, and purl.  The second session will cover questions, different combinations of knit and purl, and binding off.

Materials: 4.0mm/US6 needles, 100g of worsted weight cotton or cotton blend yarn, yarn needle.  Scrap yarn will be provided during class to try the stitches.  Purchased yarn will be used to start your first washcloth.

Tapestry Crochet Pouch

Is it a notions pouch?  Is it a coin purse?  Why choose?  Once you learn how, you can make as many of these useful little bags as you want!  Tapestry crochet makes a dense colorwork fabric that is great for bags and baskets and involves very few tails to weave.
